Thoughts on growing

This is a simple grow plan.  I know there are more complex plans, but I am just giving a simple plan.

THE BASICS - You will need a bright light, 3 to 5 gallon pots, a dark place to grow, such as a closet or grow tent, a cheap fan to stir the air and a 4 or 6 inch vent fan.  I suggest you keep it as cheap as you can to start.  As you begin smoking your own herb you will have more money to buy improvements.

Light - an LED light is bright and cooler.  Amazon has several for around $100.

Pots - 3 to 5 gallon pots will be large enough to grow your plants.

Space - You will need the plants to be completely dark for 12 hours during bloom.  A closet or grow tent will do this.

Stirring fan - The plants use up the CO2 that is around them so a cheap fan will move new CO2 around inside the tent.

Vent fan - This is used to keep the grow area cool and less humid.

Fertilizer for Grow and Bloom cycles - Check your local grow shops, they can tell you more about simple fertilizer schedules.

Timers and sensors - You can add timers and sensors at this point or wait.  I use a timer to control the lights and turn them on and off.  I use a timer to turn the stirring fan on  every 30 to 60 minutes, only when the light is on.  I use a temperature switch to turn the 4 inch vent fan on to cool the grow tent.

YOU CAN ADD LATER

Humidifier and/or Dehumidifier - Mold will destroy a crop so keeping the humidity low is helpful.  During the Winter you may need to add humidity since the air is real dry.

CO2 system - There are several ways to put CO2 in the air.  There are timers and CO2 tank systems, CO2 bags or I have seen one person teach their cat to sleep in their grow.  Plants only need CO2 during the light on cycle.  They don't use CO2 when it is dark.

PH Meters - You can increase your yield and the health of your grow by keeping the Ph around 7.  There are additives to adjust your soil or hydroponic grow medium.

Hydroponic Systems - From Bubble buckets to large flood and drain tables there are several hydroponic systems you could use.

Watering system - From wicks in a kiddie pool to automatic water pumps will help keep your grow safe.
